10 Weirdest Gachapons Spotted In Tokyo This Month

The gachapon craze in Japan has led to some extremely creative and unique little trinkets and toys popping up in vending machines across the country.

There's nothing in the world quite like a gachapon machine. While many countries distribute toys and candies from tiny vending machines, the creativity contained in a Japanese gachapon capsule seemingly knows no bounds. Most gachas contain toys, jewelry, and miniatures, but some are harder to explain than others.

These oddball gachapons are currently distributing what may be the perfect gifts for the person who has everything, because "everything" isn't likely to include fashionable corn kernel rings or statuettes of sparrows armed with sniper rifles.

Shopping for a ring is par for the course when planning a proposal, though many customers have come to understand that buying diamonds is something of a racket. Those skeptical of the tradition might want to consider something cornier.

Bright Link's Corn Engagement Ring Gachapon series offers five alternative ring designs: baby corn on the cob, a single kernel, a single browned kernel, a kernel trifecta, and beautiful bloom of popcorn. Only the pickiest of people could resist a proposal accompanied by one of these delectable treasures.

Caring for pets is never easy, and vegetables tend to go off if not used quickly. Given these facts, adopting an animal-vegetable hybrid pet may seem a daunting task. Fortunately, the vegetable pets from StandStones require little care aside from daily admiration.

The set includes the following chimeras: llama x corn, cat x garlic, dog x cabbage, button mushroom x rabbit, and what appears to be shiitake mushroom x ferret.

The gyaru subculture has been part of the Tokyo fashion tapestry for decades now, although the style is spotted mainly in specific neighborhoods, such as Harajuku and Shinjuku. A transliteration of the word "gal," the gyaru style is half a homage to beauty standards and half a challenge to them. Gyaru often paint their skin orange or brown, wear white lipstick and outlandish makeup, bleach their hair, and boast especially long nails.

The long nails matter in this case, as these one-of-a-kind gachapon origami cranes have each been individually folded by gyaru whose hands are weighed down by pointed manicures. Given this, no two of these cranes are alike, and few are made correctly. Like the gyaru subculture itself, the rough edges are half the appeal.

Manufacturers Kitan Club and Alfred Hitchcock might have a lot to talk about when it comes to the topic of ornithophobia. But even Hitchcock may never have considered that the birds might be armed with more than talons and beaks. Kitan Club has chosen to add firearms to the mix.

This gachapon selection of sparrow snipers is actually a second release, and the series sold well during its first run. Birdwatchers beware: the abyss gazes also, as the set also includes sparrow lookouts with binoculars.

On tough days, even the smallest of tasks can be challenging. Qualia understands and wants consumers to know that help is available. For anyone feeling less than up to the task of lifting a set of chopsticks, consider enlisting the support of a tiny beefcake.

There are three varieties of these gachapon bodybuilders available to collect, but any one of them is more than yolked enough to do the job solo.

While not an altogether new idea, miniatures are a gachapon staple, after all, the gachapon machine within a gachapon machine feels especially powerful. Gachapon creators have long understood that tiny recreations of reality have an inherent charm, and at times get a little meta-cognitive with the concept.

This particular series of gachapon minis from StandStones may disappoint some buyers, however. The machines don't distribute the miniatures themselves. Instead, each customer receives a 3D printing file that allows them to print their own tiny machines at home.

Life shouldn't be about appearances, but sometimes people feel pressured to appear more confident or wealthy than they really are. Bright Link's gachapon division once again comes to the rescue with money hand towels for those wondering how to leave an impression of being wealthy.

Summer leaves everyone sweating, but at least these bills make wiping perspiration away feel a little more Gucci. There are six varieties available, but unfortunately, none can be used as actual currency.

Very little in life is as thrilling as scaring house guests, as pranksters the whole world over can attest. And yet this particular prank has a practical aspect, too. The true trap, after all, is slipping on the way out of the tub, and even if a broken manhole cover or an empty void illusion seems intimidating, safety comes first.

These bathmat gachas are available in five different varieties, ranging from open pits to manhole covers. How convincing a deception they create is uncertain, but if nothing else, they should elicit a laugh or two.

Many readers have a hard time putting down a good book, but few bookworms have ever considered the harm they cause their bookmarks. Given the popularity of the mystery and crime genres, these crime scene bookmarks aren't even a tough sell. While being crushed between the pages seems to be the primary cause of death, the only apparent motive for this design is to amuse.

Bright Link released this series of crime scene bookmarks in December 2021, and now these gacha are getting harder to find. Soon these bookmarks will be relegated to the cold case files.

ID Photos of Strangers has become the source of some buzz online. The set features ten different photos of strangers about which nothing is known. An experiment of sorts available only in Shinjuku, the series has far exceeded sales expectations.

Designer Terai Hiroki explained that due to the restrictions of a pandemic era, people miss seeing the faces of strangers in general. Terai, an artist also responsible for publishing a photography book featuring solely photos of handsome men crying, certainly knows how to tap into the bizarre pathos of human nature.
