As Clash of Clans approaches its 10th anniversary, err… Clashiversary, Supercell is setting the stage for an exciting event. Yesterday, the studio released a lengthy documentary, “Clash from the Past: The Untold Story,” chronicling the story of how Clash of Clans came to be.

It was all a joke though, as Clash of Clans hasn’t really been around for 40 years and didn’t start as a classic arcade game (but can you imagine if it had?!). But even though this video was created as a joke, it appears that there was still some legitimacy to it.

Arriving alongside the video was a small, optional update that added something very interesting to the Home Village. You’ll notice, that there’s now a mysterious Arcade Machine sitting there.

As of this writing, the Arcade Machine doesn’t actually do anything. However, it’s expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming Clashiversary update.

Previous rumors and leaks have revealed that the upcoming Clashiversary in August will come with 11 unique Anniversary Challenges. There appears to be one challenge for each of the 10 years of that Clash of Clans has been around, along with a final challenge, named “Goblins.” It’s believed that completing all 11 of these challenges will reward you with a special Goblin King Tribute statue.

Of course, the celebration won’t stop with the Challenges. Clashiversary typically brings other perks as well, including 1-Gem boosts, discounted sales and special daily deals. And, of course, with a new battle pass we’ll be getting a special Hero Skin. I hope it’s something arcade-themed.

With August just a few days away and the Clashiversary right around the corner, we should hopefully get more official details from Supercell. Clash of Clans doesn’t actually turn 10 until August 2, so it’s possible Supercell waits until the new season on August 1 to reveal the details of the Clashiversary event.

Beyond Clashiversary, what else does Clash of Clans have in store for its 10th year? It’s likely we’ll be getting Town Hall 15 with the Fall update, but we’re still a few months away from that.
