Arcade1Up reveals a brand-new Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 cabinet that players can purchase for their home that will feature online play.

One of the most influential games for the Fighting Game Community is Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: Age of New Heroes, which first released in 2000. This crossover takes the iconic rosters of both Marvel Comics and Capcom and pits them against one another in team-based battles, making it a stand-out release among other fighters of the day. The game is still fondly remembered to this day and is considered by many to be the best Marvel vs. Capcom game, with some circles declaring it the best fighting game of all time. Sadly, the game has been delisted since 2013, unable to be officially purchased from digital storefronts.

Fans have since then been asking Capcom and Marvel to re-release this game, which came to a head thanks to prominent YouTuber and FGC figurehead Maximilian Dood. Last year, he started an online campaign to bring back Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to hopefully convince the relevant parties to re-release the game. Arcade1Up, an arcade cabinet producer, has revealed to fans that a brand-new cabinet of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is coming out this year.

As revealed in a new video from Arcade1Up, the company will be re-releasing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with this cabinet, which has been officially licensed by both Marvel and Capcom. Not only will this cabinet feature the aforementioned MvC2, but eight other classic Marvel fighting games. This includes the first MvC, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, X-Men: Children of the Atom, and more. Not only that, this arcade cabinet isn't limited to just local play, as it will support online play, meaning fans can challenge each other in matches of MvC2 from around the world.

Other features of this arcade cabinet include an exclusive piece of side panel art, along with a custom riser that can be used to adjust the machine's height so fans can play the game while standing up straight, as if they were back in the arcades themselves. The machine also has a special light-up marquee as well as a headphone jack so players can be fully invested in their matches. Much like other Arcade1Up cabinets, no quarters are needed to play the games included.

Fans have expressed their excitement for the release of this cabinet, with EVO champion Justin Wong noting that Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 has been finally "freed" after so many years. There isn't any word if this arcade re-release could lead to a modern port down the line, but this at least gives fans a chance to play a collection of classic Marvel fighting games. Pre-orders for this cabinet open in September and will ship the following month.

The Marvel vs. Capcom 2 cabinet from Arcade1Up will release in early October 2022.
