Gibby’s, an old-school-style arcade, is coming to the Empire Mall.

Owner Brian Gibbs lived in Sioux Falls until he was 12 years old, and now he lives in Sioux City, where he currently runs Gibby's arcade in the Southern Hill Mall.

He was the longtime manager at Aladdin’s Castle in Sioux City before opening Gibby’s eight years ago. But because a larger entertainment center is moving in to the space, Gibbs is bringing his arcade to Sioux Falls.

The store is taking over the space that was once Westmoor Music, next to Applebee’s in the Empire Mall.

The arcade will feature games like PacMan, Space Invaders Frenzy, Skeeball, IceMan, Halo, Jurassic Park, pinball machines and air hockey. Players will use tokens to play and win tickets, and all the games cost less than $1 to play.

“The goal is to make it fun and affordable for every family,” Gibbs said.

Gibbs is also taking over the Win Zone in the mall’s food court and renaming it Gibby’s Jr.

“It's exciting to come back to Sioux Falls,” said Gibbs. “I know the mall has a lot to offer, and hopefully I succeed there. I’ve already had a lot of positive feedback from people.”

The new arcade will open in mid-to-late August. To keep up to date, people can follow Gibby’s on Facebook.
