Casinos are always trying to find ways to better improve themselves and attract more guests. Whether it be enhancements, additions, or entirely new properties altogether, these properties are constantly unveiling new options and amenities. Here, we take a look at 10 openings and expansions since our last edition from the spring. 10. MGM Grand Las Vegas welcomes new restaurant Earlier this month, Nellie's Southern Kitchen opened the doors to its first West Coast location at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. Helmed by Denise and Kevin Jonas, Sr. – the parents of Kevin II, Joe and Nick (the Jonas Brothers) and Franklin – Nellie's welcomes guests to a seat at the Jonas family table with nightly live music, hospitality and Southern comfort food. Reservations: https://t.co/59ZzEJWSu1 pic.twitter.com/yA4ya4WLPP— MGM Grand Hotel (@MGMGrand) June 6, 2022 9. $100 million renovation at Potawatomi Hotel Casino Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Wisconsin announced a $100 million renovation project that will revolutionize the casino’s third floor and usher in the next era of entertainment to Milwaukee. The project impacts more than 120,000 square feet of space and provides guests with new gaming, food and entertainment experiences. There will be more than 1,800 slot machine stations, including a new bar with 28 bar-top “slot seats and an array of 4K televisions. Guests will also find cashier stations and a new Fire Keeper’s Club booth. The property will also open three new “quick service” food and beverage stations where guests can grab a bite or have food delivered to their gaming station. Construction on the renovation project is scheduled for completion by the spring of 2023. 8. Caesars Sportsbook opens at Chase Field Last week, Caesars Entertainment, in partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks, announced that Caesars Sportsbook at Chase Field officially opened. The two-story, 22,300-square-foot entertainment destination is located adjacent to Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix and is now the largest freestanding sportsbook in Arizona and the largest retail sportsbook to open in partnership with a major sports stadium nationwide. The venue features a total of nine betting windows and 13 self-service betting kiosks as well as wall-to-wall flatscreen televisions, patio space, along with table and lounge-style seating on both floors with a total capacity of more than 425. Private space is also available to rent. Hard Rock Sacramento opens Hard Rock Live On 3 June, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Sacramento at Fire Mountain unveiled the newly finished Hard Rock Live music and entertainment venue. The grand opening party featured an exclusive, sold-out performance from Grammy-winning and four-time platinum group, Maroon 5. The venue features up to 2,500 seats or over 3,000 occupants for general admission, with no spectator further than 140-feet from the stage. In addition, the destination will offer a second-level mezzanine with VIP skyboxes and balcony seating. Guests can also enjoy Hard Rock memorabilia cases displaying more than 40 iconic pieces, a photo booth, and a full-service bar. 6. Red Rock Casino opens new high limit room Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas debuted a High Limit Room on 5 May. The 9,000 square foot space features high-limit games double deck blackjack, shoe blackjack, baccarat, single zero roulette, a dedicated cage, bar, and seating spaces for socializing. As an additional amenity, players will be treated to the resort’s butler service while gaming. A curved 11-seat bar will offer a selection of high-limit bar top games alongside a bespoke hand-crafted cocktail experience inspired by classic cocktails with a premium twist. More enhancements coming to Caesars Atlantic City Caesars Entertainment announced additional property enhancements set to arrive at Caesars Atlantic City this year, including upgrades to its valet, hotel lobby, and casino floor, along with a new outdoor pool experience. The Caesars Atlantic City valet and hotel lobby will invoke an elegant and welcoming sense of arrival for guests. The redesigned first floor lobby will also feature an all-new Starbucks offering mobile ordering. This summer, Caesars will unveil a renovated pool experience with beach and ocean views from the rooftop of Qua Baths & Spa. The pool will feature two levels of seating with modern lounge chairs, daybeds and cabanas for relaxation. The new enhancements also include partnering with Nobu Hospitality to bring the region’s first Nobu Atlantic City, a restaurant and hotel within Caesars, and acclaimed Chef Gordon Ramsay to open the East Coast’s first Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen restaurant; and recently completed large-scale room and suite renovations to over 750 guestrooms. The Brook continues massive expansion Following a multi-year, multi-million dollar expansion and remodel, The Brook in New Hampshire is now America’s largest charity casino. Located minutes from the Massachusetts border, the former Seabrook Greyhound Park has been entirely reimagined and transformed into a 90,000 square-foot casino entertainment destination. In May, The Brook was the first casino in New England to debut historical horse racing machines. These new games feature themes very familiar to gamblers like Quick-Hits, Blazing 7’s, Wolf Run and Buffalo, but with a unique pari-mutuel connectivity. Last week, the casino added legendary titles from Aristocrat Gaming, such as Buffalo Gold, Buffalo Chief, Mighty Cash Double Up Lucky Tiger, Gold Stacks 88 Dancing Foo. The Brook also recently unveiled an outside deck, ballroom and event space and this summer will launch its entertainment schedule of comedians, tribute bands and headliners. 3. Hard Rock to build resort casino in heart of Athens Riviera Last week, Hard Rock International and GEK TERNA Group announced their partnership regarding the construction and operation of an integrated resort and casino, located in the Athens Riviera. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens, set to open in 2026, will combine a five-star hotel, a gaming floor, a meeting and convention space, an entertainment venue, food and beverage options, and more. The development brings a casino comprised of 200 tables and 2,000 gaming machines and a tower that consists of more than 1,000 guest rooms and suites overlooking the waterfront or views across Athens to the Parthenon. Additionally, the project includes the highest outdoor rooftop terrace in Athens with a rooftop pool deck, bars, and the Rock Spa and Body Rock Fitness. 2. Ocean Resort Casino unveils $85 million in development Ocean Resort Casino revealed that over $85 million in property development will be debuting throughout the summer. Updates include the completion of over 460 hotel rooms and suites, The Gallery Bar Book & Games, and multiple new food and beverage outlets. Available 1 July, the new 463-square-foot Contemporary Blu rooms draw inspiration from the colors and patterns of the shoreline. Continuing the beach-scape aesthetic, the newly built suites offer elevated interior finishes and additional amenities such as a dining area, wet bar, and lounge seating for guests to host small gatherings. Choctaw Nation breaks ground on Choctaw Landing On 14 June, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma broke ground on Choctaw Landing, the Nation’s newest entertainment and resort development in Hochatown, Oklahoma. The Nation plans to invest $165 million on the project and will create more than 2,000 new jobs. The four-story, 200,000 square-foot entertainment destination will feature 100 hotel rooms, 600 slot machines, eight table games, several restaurants and bars, a pool, an outdoor venue with an amphitheater, beer garden and a family-friendly game zone. In addition to the new resort, a 12,000 square-foot mercantile will adjoin Choctaw Landing offering a small grocery store/market, three dining options and a fuel station with 24 pumps. Choctaw Landing will open in late 2023.
